Pray

A simple acronym L.A.B.O.R. reminding us to pray for evangelism

As a reminder to pray, many people set an alarm on their phone to ring at 10:02 every day. Why 10:02? It is a reminder of what Jesus taught us in  Luke 10:2 "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

L is for Laborers

Mat 9:36-38  When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37  Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38  therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

A is for Access

Col 4:2-4 ESV  Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.  3  At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison--  4  that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.

B is for Boldness

Act 4:29-31 ESV  And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,  30  while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus."  31  And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.

O is for Openness

Act 16:13-15 ESV And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together. 14 One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. 15 And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.

R is for Response

1Th 2:13 ESV And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
